Roadmap to Legacy Action [P4]

Note: This is the last part of a four-part mini-series published every Friday for April (I missed last week's because my internet was down). Missed some? Go to Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3.

apr_sbh_p4 If you've gotten this far, bravo! If not, you can go back any time. This series ain't going anywhere... The best time to start is always, always now. I live by that. It's so easy to get caught up with life that we get burnt out, forgotten (yes, we forget ourselves!) and we are this close to giving up on our legacy. Sometimes that shows up in the form of procrastination -- just not getting anything legacy-related done. It is crappy, y'all, but we gotta fight it. We have it in us. And it isn't as hard as it sounds, really, since we've got our lives and businesses covered. It gets busy, but only in the good way.

Over the course of the last month we've covered a lot of ground. I really wanted to help you actuate the steps in the book in big-picture form. To tackle the seemingly large and unsurmountable aspects of our legacies (our lives and businesses) and simplify that, finding the true essence of our hearts and unleashing that greatness in our legacies. I know that there are lurkers, but not many comments. And I really want to build a community of strong, courageous, determined, passionate, worthy, amazing legacy-entrepreneurs and -makers. Are you in? If yes, look for that giant gold button at the end of this post, more details to follow!

Life goes on, right? Whether you discover your legacy or not, life goes on... Whether you live your life jumping for joy or face-planted on the bed, life goes on.

But that's not who we are, is it? We were put here for a purpose -- to impact, to inspire, to change, to shake, to move. We weren't here to just sit by, going through the motions. So what do we do? So what if I have all these information about myself? What can I do right now to give me momentum to continue building my legacy many, many years from now?

1. Consistency.

Now that you've got your life framework and your giant (yet to be refined, but super heart-full) plan, you need consistency, right? But talking about consistency is so much easier than taking action. I know. Me too, y'all, me too. I have a few handy-dandy tools to keep me in check, always. I have my Legacy Creation Roadmap (get it immediately after signing up) printed in full color, filled in fully, pinned up on my inspiration board right above my iMac. It's hard to miss. When I feel jaded, or tired, or just... sigh... I look up. And I read the two sentences that is my legacy. And I get jolted -- is that really me? Did I write that? What a lofty dream. But how it speaks -- no, sings -- to my heart.

Then, I don't do it all on my own. I constantly talk to my husband and my best friends about my legacy. Like, truly pour out my heart. I also talk to other budding entrepreneurs and creative small business owners about it. Because I get excited talking about my legacy. I get this electric rush. When I feel down, this electric rush that comes can sustain me. Can rejuvenate me.

Lastly, I am no superwoman. I use inspirational wallpapers on my desktop and my phone (I have monthly ones sent out to my The Petite Co. list -- also the same one where you get the Legacy Creation Roadmap!) so that I am always in touch with my legacy. I also use apps like Momentum for Chrome, Asana (writing a SBH post about this), Wunderlist, Evernote and Dreamdays. Asana, Wunderlist and Evernote is rather straightforward -- they keep me up to date with my goals, my tasks and manage my life framework for me. Evernote also holds my Love Swipe File (all the nice things clients and peers ever said about me!) and inspiration quotes from books and webinars. I love that they all sync with my iMac and my iPhone. Momentum helps me focus on the GENERAL task for the DAY. Then I can add to-dos right into my browser, and check them off one by one (exhilarating!) whilst making sure each task I put down is directly related to my big focus for the day.

Dreamdays helps me dream. BIG. I have countdowns to my 2015 trip to London, my Bali trip with the in-laws, my future home in London, and business goals like hitting my first six-figure year, getting featured on The Huffington Post etc. It keeps me on track and more importantly, reminds me of what I can achieve in a simple, clean format.

2. Going back to your core, always.

When you feel out of touch and overwhelmed or frustrated, ready to raise the white flag... Remember your heart and your calling. Remember why you started in the first place. Reminding yourself of your legacy sometimes, just sometimes puts pressure on you in a high-pressure cooker situation. I get it. Your legacy is a big task, a lofty one that you can attain, with time. But when it (or work, or life) stresses you out with multiple curveballs, with too much work that you don't love... Go back to your heart. Ground yourself. Reconnect with yourself. Your heart is all yours. Keep it. You will feel this amazing sense of peace.

Drop everything and go back to your core when you feel overwhelmed. Sometimes it's all you need.

3. Tackling change, head on.

A lot of the time, building on our legacy can bring up a lot of discomfort. Mostly from change. Because you now have to be moredo moreshow up more. It's crazy. But go into this prepared... Prepared not as in, getting everything ready and perfect, but prepared as in knowing you got this. Knowing it's gonna be super different from here on out, you, your life, your business will never be the same, in a good way. And then changing seasons, head on. Choose to change seasons, even. Because we know that by pushing through and tackling change head on, we're gonna emerge better, stronger, nearer to our best legacy than ever.

Choose change over comfort.

4. Embrace your fear.

If you've read The Legacy Mindset, you'll know what fear truly means. Often, fear is the only thing standing between you and your greatness. When you encounter fear, you just sorta know that it's the only obstacle left.

Everything you want is on the other side of fear. - Jack Canfield

So embrace it, use it as your weapon instead. Know that you've reached the point of levelling up on your greatness every time you stumble upon fear. Bust through that. Take control. Oh, this tingles me when I type it because I just feel this energy surging out to y'all. Do you feel it? I felt fear even posting this series. But I know that your greatness is coming. I know that my greatness is building. Take charge of your fear. Fear desires to have you, but you must rule over it.

5. Know.

Know that you were meant for greatness. That you have a unique legacy you have to live out. That you have everything you need to be more, to inspire more. That this is the right time and the right place. It's never gonna get better than now, so know that you will succeed. That it is meant to happen for you in time. Hold on to that.

And with that, this series has come to a close. It's bittersweet for me, because I poured out so much of my heart and myself into this series. But I know that this is not the end, building your legacy is never the end, my dear friends. There's so much more in store for us.
